Cross the Street, Inc. is an organization committed to creating and promoting mini-events to  inspire neighbors to to be 'neighborly' with one another.  It promotes exactly what the name implies; helping neighbors to ‘Cross the Street’ and embark on a relationship with another neighbor. Good quality relationships with our neighbors have diminished significantly over the past several decades.   Many influences have lead to the current trend but it can be reversed.  Building community starts with small steps -just Cross the Street.

03/05 :  2008 Cross the Street Day Endorsement

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

STATE OF MICHIGAN
ANDY COULOURIS
STATE REPRESENTATIVE
May 1, 2008

To Whom It May Concern:

I write to express my strong and continued support for the Cross the Street initiative, spearheaded by Ms. Rhonda Webb. I am proud that this effort has gotten its start in my hometown of Saginaw. Cross the Street's laudable goal - to reestablish the value and practice of community through encouragement of simple neighborly gestures - is timeless.

Each year the enthusiasm surrounding Cross the Street Day is both notable and contagious. Those who participate in the Cross the Street festivities truly do contribute to the social fabric of our community in a way that is undeniably important: neighbors meeting neighbors. I know firsthand the impact such a simple act can have on a citizen, their family, and their neighborhood.

I heartily endorse the Cross the Street initiative and encourage citizens across our community to join in the cause.

Sincerely,
Andy Coulouris
